Lago
Maggiore
The Lago Maggiore offers a variety of different and sometimes
even contrasting landscapes.
Ascona: The old fishermens
village grown to a well known tourism destination still
has many picturesque old streets
Locarno: A vivid town with
southern flair. This video presents the Piazza Grande,
the promenade along the lake, the charming old town and
the view from the pilgrimage church Madonna
del Sasso.
Cannobio and Cannero-
Riviera or the more contemplative Porto
Valtravaglia are well known holiday resorts in
the italian part of the lake.
Luino is famous for its
market day as well as for the picturesque streets in the
old town.
Angera and Arona
are vivid italian towns with a lot of tradition. Nearby
is also the hermitage of Santa
Catarina del Sasso.
In Pallanza the main attraction
is the garden of Villa Taranto.
Stresa is the world famous
tourism destination at the Lago Maggiore but has still
preserved its character in the town center. The view from
the Mottarone is covering
most of the Lake Majeure.
The most visitied places of interest are the Borromeic
islands in the Lago Maggiore, the Isola
Bella with its huge palace, the Isola
Pescatori with its traditional fishermens village
and the Isola Madre with
its beautiful palace and gardens.
