The
fascinating St. Gotthardpass
The St. Gotthardpass is
a landscape where the development of the alpine traffic
and the strategic importance of the pass road influenced
local history and tradition. This video shows the most
interesting aspects: the wild canyon
of the Schöllenen, the village Andermatt
in the Urseren and its valley museum, the trip crossing
the St. Gotthardpass, the collection of the Museo
nazionale del San Gottardo and the historic stage
coach crossing the St. Gotthard daily. The second part
shows the strategic and military aspects of the St. Gotthardpass:
the crossing by Russian troops under command of General
Suworow, Forte Airolo
with its interesting military collection and the fortifications
at the hospice situated on 2000 meters above sea level
and showing original equipment.
